ROLE IN NATIONAL NETWORKING ACTIVITIES

Current employer is Augere Holdings, who are running mobile WiMAX services in Bangladesh, Pakistan and are planning to roll out in India and East Africa under the brand name Qubee. I am in charge of the IP & IT design and deployment for eEast Africa.


A brief description of your computing and networking environment (operating systems,

Currently running a trial mobile WiMAX network in Uganda and Rwanda using different vendors. The IP Core is in Kampala. IP routing is done by low/mid level cisco routers and SRX juniper firewalls. Switching is done on Extreme Layer3 switches. Server farm is running red hat enterprise  and ubuntu server edition. Expecting to launch full East Africa network Q4 this year with high end equipment. IP transit is provided by a local ISP.

I have been working for Network Operators for more than 7 years in the field of systems, networking and VoIP. Further more I have obtained CCNP and MCSE certifications. 


How you expect to use the knowledge you gain at the workshop after you return to your country*

I am currently setting up an inter regional network in east africa. This workshop will greatly help me to setup a scalable, redundant and efficient network. It will also allow me to pass on the necessary knowledge to my team to help with their work.
